Two of the businesses that held Byhalia Area Chamber ribbon cuttings in 2026 are vehicles. One is a coffee shop and the other is a hibachi food truck. This November, the National Barbecue & Grilling Association brings the final stop of its 2026 Live Fire Experience Series to town. It's a two-day event built around pits, smoke and public tasting.
So the most interesting changes to Byhalia's food scene this year are happening in parking lots and on event grounds, more than in new storefronts. If you live here, the way to keep up this fall is to know where things are parked and on which days. Here's what we've confirmed so far, and what's still unannounced.
Two of this year's ribbon cuttings were for food on wheels
The Honey Brew's ribbon cutting was set for the morning of March 17, 2026, in the back parking lot of Byhalia Bank at 8077 Hwy 178 West. That spot made sense. The Honey Brew calls itself a mobile coffee shop that brings "specialty coffee and smiles to every corner of Byhalia," with pick-up and walk-up service from what it describes as a clean, professional mobile unit. The featured menu on its site lists lattes, espresso and cappuccino. Published hours are 8 a.m. to noon, Monday through Saturday, and it's closed Sundays. It also runs a punch-card loyalty program for regulars in its service area.
Earlier in the year, Fire and Flavor Hibachi with a Flare held its grand opening at 8019 Hwy 72. On opening day it took lunch orders and handed out sushi samples. The Chamber's posted date for that event moved once, and the standalone event page lists February 11, 2026. The Chamber lists Fire and Flavor in its food-truck directory, and the state classifies it as a mobile unit. Its Mississippi State Department of Health permit runs through January 2027. We couldn't find posted weekly hours for this fall, so call ahead before you drive over.
Not every 2026 opening was food. The Clean Hamper held its ribbon cutting on June 23 at 8547 MS-178. Still, the two food openings that got Chamber ceremonies this year both arrived on wheels.
The coffee map now has three kinds of stops
Coffee shows the pattern most clearly, because Byhalia now has a fixed shop, a mobile one and a café concept, all within a few minutes of each other.
- Crew + Co, 8122 MS-178. This is the storefront, and it opens earliest. Hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, closed Sunday. Its state food permit runs into April 2027.
- The Honey Brew. The mobile option, open 8 a.m. to noon, Monday through Saturday. Since the business is built around a mobile unit, check its website for where it's set up before you head out.
- Bean on Brunswick, 40 E Brunswick St, Suite A. A café concept offering coffee, lattes, pastries, smoothies, fruit bowls and grab-and-go food. A fall 2024 report from WhatNow Memphis said it planned to open December 1, 2024. It holds a state food permit listed through December 2026. A permit shows it's licensed but doesn't confirm daily hours, so check before a first visit.
Put those schedules side by side and Saturday mornings are covered, with both Crew + Co and The Honey Brew serving until at least noon. Sunday is the gap, since both Crew + Co and The Honey Brew list Sundays as closed.
For a sit-down meal, Seafood Junction Too at 25 E Stonewall Rd is still the established choice. It's an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet with Southern homestyle favorites, and you can order online. Its state permit runs into April 2027.
November brings the biggest pop-up yet
On November 13 and 14, 2026, the National Barbecue & Grilling Association holds the NBBQA Live Fire Experience: Byhalia Fire & Feast at 120 Lowry Drive. The association's own one-line description of the weekend:
Live fire cooking, public tasting, and bold Mississippi barbecue flavor.
This is a national series with only three stops in 2026: Nashville, Tennessee; Greenwood, South Carolina; and Byhalia. Nashville went first on September 11 and 12, at the Travellers Rest Historic House Museum. Byhalia is the Mississippi stop and the last of the season.
The event page lays out the format. Friday evening is a public tasting and sampling experience, and teams will be talking with the public. NBBQA describes the competition as a "qualifier-style" event leading toward the 2027 NBBQA National Live Fire Championship. In Nashville, the competition was scheduled for the Saturday. The guest list includes barbecue teams, live-fire cooks, vendors, sponsors, food lovers and "the local community."
As of early October, several details haven't been published yet:
- Tickets. No ticket price, and no word on whether the tasting is free or ticketed. The "Get Details" button on the event page links to NBBQA's homepage.
- Hours. The listing covers both full days but gives no times for the Friday tasting or the competition.
- The address itself. The event page says 120 Lowry Drive, and NBBQA's ticket-information page says 120 Lowry Road. The map pin on the event page points to the association's contact address in Douglas, Georgia, not to Byhalia. Don't trust the map link when you're planning the drive.
- Status. NBBQA's signature-events page still says "Details coming soon" for Byhalia.
We also couldn't find any named local teams or restaurants on the entry list yet. The event page on nbbqa.org is the place to watch as the date gets closer.
The rest of the fall, in date order
Byhalia's Chamber and civic groups fill in the weeks around the barbecue weekend. Two events have already happened. Byhalia Fire and Police held the Lights & Ladders Water Balloon War at Fire Station #2 on September 12, and the Byhalia Historic Church Preservation Society held its Chatterbox Fish Fry on October 3 at 2532 Church Street, in the former Presbyterian Church. Here's what's still ahead:
- October 15: 28th Annual White Oak Classic Golf Tournament. Held at Kirkwood National Golf Club, 277 Palmer Lane in Holly Springs, for four-person teams, with registration opening at 10:30 a.m.
- October 24: Greenway Fall Fest. The Wolf River Conservancy's family event at Shady Grove Trailhead, 6324 Humphreys Boulevard, with a scavenger hunt, animal encounters, a costume parade and food trucks.
- November 13–14: Byhalia Fire & Feast. 120 Lowry Drive, with details still to come from NBBQA.
- December 3: Chamber Annual Awards Luncheon. 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. You need to RSVP in advance, and tickets are $35 for nonmembers.
- December 10: Chamber Holiday Open House. 1 to 4 p.m. at 2452 Church Street. It's open to the public, with refreshments and a chance to meet Chamber members.
One date isn't on the list yet: the Christmas parade. The Town of Byhalia's parade page still shows a listing from December 2018, and the Chamber's August through December 2026 calendar doesn't include a parade. If you plan around it, check with Town Hall first.
Tuesday's agenda could add room for more events
Pop-ups need open ground, and the town is starting work on more of it. The agenda for the Board of Aldermen's regular meeting on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, includes an order approving Elliott and Britt Engineering to design and bid park and recreation additions. The list includes two soccer fields, two pickleball courts, a basketball court, and improvements to the existing baseball field and parking.
This is an agenda item, so nothing has been approved, funded or scheduled for construction yet. A design-and-bid order is an early step. The board meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Town Hall Board Room, and agendas go up on the Friday before each meeting. To follow the park project, check the Town Hall Meetings page after Tuesday and at the meetings that follow.
